Our Issues
Protecting Lands, Strengthening Organizations, Influencing Policy
For 22 years we have helped protect both the incredibly rich biological diversity of the rainforest and the cultural integrity of the peoples whose lives and livelihoods are inextricably linked to these forests. We do this by providing direct financial support and hands-on technical training to indigenous communities and local grassroots organizations to:
- Gain official control of their land and resources. With secure land rights, indigenous peoples are the best forest guardians.
- Participate in the legal and policy decisions that affect their rights and resources.
- Build strong and effective local leaders and organizations. This is the only way communities can protect their rights and forests for the long-term.
